Westleigh Methodist School closed for 14 days as from 18/03/20
Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: Closure of Westleigh Methodist Primary School
As you will be aware, the Government has now moved into the “delay” phase of their four-tiered plan to tackle Covid-19 or Coronavirus.
This is a notable development as it further highlights the important role that we all have in helping to reduce the spread of the virus.
We have just been told that a member of our community is being treated as having a confirmed case of Covid-19. This person was in our school for a short period of time at the start of the week and, as a result, Public Health England has advised that we close with immediate effect for 14 days. This means that we are now effectively closed for the Easter holidays.
Public Health England has advised that all families in our school should now self-isolate for a period of 14 days.
While we appreciate that you may be alarmed at this news, it is important that we remain calm and continue to support one another. Any member of your household is asked to follow guidance regarding self-isolation for the next 14 days. If anyone presents the most common symptoms of Coronavirus then please follow the guidance set by Public Health England. These symptoms are a recent onset of a new continuous cough and/or a high temperature.
It is important to stress that, given we are at a time of the year when there are lots of colds and bugs going about, displaying these symptoms does not mean you have Covid-19. It is, however, right that we all appropriately manage the potential of any of us having the virus to help protect every member of our community, particularly the most vulnerable.
We will continue to follow all guidance set by Public Health England, and will contact you further before the start of next term with an update.
Please continue to support your communities and one another, whether that be through taking responsible decisions to self-isolate or reaching out to those in need.
